I am a computational biologist from Lisbon, Portugal. Starting in June 2025, I will be a postdoctoral fellow at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm to work on computational methods for analysis of spatial transcriptomics data from tumors.
I obtained my PhD in May 2024 at the Computational Biology Group at the department of Biosystems Science and Engineering of ETH Zürich, supervised by Niko Beerenwinkel and Jack Kuipers. I developed Bayesian models to extract information from high-throughput single-cell sequencing data and reconstruct the evolution of tumors.
Before joining ETH Zürich in 2019, I obtained an integrated Master’s degree in electrical engineering at the Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, with a major in telecommunications. My thesis was about probabilistic matrix factorisation models for scRNA-seq data analysis with Susana Vinga and Alexandra M. Carvalho. During my studies, I took software engineering internships at Jungle AI and Pentaho.
